OSU pre-med student gets prison for injuring motorcyclist in DUI crash

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) — An Oregon State University student who injured a motorcyclist while driving drunk has been sentenced to 17 months in prison.
Mason Allen Meyer will serve three years of probation following his release and his driver's license will be suspended for five years.
The Corvallis Gazette-Time reports that the victim appeared in the courtroom Thursday. Travis Tuttle of Grand Ronde moved with the aid of a walker after suffering a broken ankle, pelvis and femur in the June 15 crash.
Meyer is a pre-med student who had been celebrating the end of finals on the night of the crash.
His attorney characterized him as someone who normally does not drink alcohol but who made the poor decision to drive home drunk in the early hours of June 15.

This loser should be charged with a FELONY...but only gets probation? Gee Wally, I wonder why the "deterrent" system doesn't work...because probation isn't a deterrent. A FELONY might be though? Time to change the law.
It doesn't matter if he "normally" drinks and drives... it only takes one time.
horrible waste of a promising life.glad the biker is gona be ok hopefully soon
