OAKLAND, ORE. -- An Oakland man is in jail, after Sutherlin police officers say they arrested him for allegedly assaulting his 3-month-old baby.
On Monday at about 9:30 a.m., paramedics were called to a home at 240 NE Pine Street in Oakland, for a report of a sick 3-month-old baby. When medical crews from Douglas County Fire District #2 arrived, officials say he was evaluated and transported to Mercy Medical Center for treatment.
That's when police say that doctors discovered some 'suspicious head trauma,' and the boy was flown to Doernbecher Children's Hospital in Portland.
The child is still under observation there, after surgery for head trauma, bleeding around the brain and broken bones.
Sutherlin police investigated the incident, and arrested the boy's father, Jason Kenneth Hogeland, 22, of Oakland.
Hogeland was charged with first degree criminal mistreatment, second degree assault and fourth degree felony assault.
He was lodged in the Douglas County Jail, and his bail is set at $356,250.
