OnStar helps police catch $61K stolen Camaro intact an hour later
BAKER CITY, Ore. - Police caught up with a stolen 2013 Camaro with a little help from GM's OnStar system Wednesday morning.
The investigation started when police in Baker City responded to a burglary at the Baker Garage auto dealership. Someone broke into the showroom and made off with a brand new $61,000 Camaro.
The next nearest towns along Interstate 84 are about an hour in each direction at legal freeway speeds. Less than 45 minutes after the burglary, however, a state trooper and two sheriff's deputies near La Grande, west of Baker City, spotted the Camaro coming westbound down the highway.
They were expecting him: the car's OnStar system relayed information about the car's whereabouts to police.
OnStar gave law enforcement another helping hand: even as the Camaro took an exit and tried to head back east, the car lost all power. OnStar disabled the engine, reducing the Camaro's top speed to 30 mph.
The driver pulled over and was taken into custody.

Hey, Hope you like prison...
Another set of defective cells sucking good air off the planet. He looks like he should never exceed 30 MPH in anything. I am still not convinced that OnStar info going to police is a good thing, this usually expands into more removal of liberty. We need to work more on the society end making it undesirable to be a crook.
I give it another 7-10 years and OnStar or a system like it will be required by law.  There's never so much power in the hands of the law that they won't take more.
And the sad thing is that there will be citizens lined up behind them supporting them.Â
that is WAY too much money to pay for  a camaro.Â
I think the real crime is the MSRP/
