TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — An Amtrak train bound for Eugene collided with a pickup truck about 19 miles south of Tacoma, Wash., in an area where the rail tracks pass through Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

A base spokeswoman said the crash killed the truck's driver.

Burlington Northern Santa Fe spokesman Gus Melonas said the crash shortly before 7 p.m. Monday happened about 40 yards from a public rail crossing on BNSF right of way.
