One dead, another injured in crash near Dallas

DALLAS, Ore. -- One man is dead and another is injured after a pickup truck crashed just outside of Dallas, Ore. early Saturday morning, the Oregon State Police said.
Sergeant Mark Davie said that at about 1 a.m. Saturday a Chevrolet pickup carrying two men was headed eastbound on Highway 233. The driver, identified as Byron E. Moore, 24 from Dallas, lost control of the truck after it drifted onto the highway's shoulder near the intersection at SE Fir Villa Road. The pickup rolled into a ditch, went airborne and landed in the front yard of a nearby residence.
The passenger, later identified as 24-year-old Mitchell Johnson of Dallas, was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. Responding emergency crews pronounced him dead at the scene.
Moore was taken to Salem Hospital where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries, OSP officials said.
Police said that alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, they haven't filed charges in the incident yet.
seat belts save lives how often do some need to hear that.here is a young man who will never get to hear that again so sad for his family
@Iam1woody And alcohol in pickups or cars takes lives; both 24 year olds had probably heard that before, too.
@hewhoo yeah they didnt have the booze thing when i read this.I just dont understand drunk driving its to easy to think and plan to not kill some one
@Iam1woody  @hewhoo Obviously, that wasnt the intention, it never is and people make mistakes. Unfortunately, 1 will have to live with the guilt on his shoulders for the rest of his life. Two lifelong best friends- both wonderful people who just werent thinking about the consequences. Alcohol related, seat belt worn or not... How dare you!?
