Opportunity Village strives to show how homeless organize homes

EUGENE, Ore. - Opportunity Village Eugene held a grand opening Saturday to show how micro-housing may help get the homeless of the streets and under a roof.

"I'm very comfortable here," said resident Linda Torrey. "It took a long time to get get off the street. Progress is looking good."

Opportunity Village is located on North Garfield Street in Eugene.

The village provides shelters and communal structures for about 45 homeless people.

Residents live by themselves or with a partner in one of the bungalows or huts.
