SALEM, Ore. - The first time the Oregon State Police opened up an electronic recruiting process, the agency got 800 applications in 6 hours.

That was October 2011. Since then, the state police have been under a hiring freeze, like other state agenices.

But as veteran troopers retire, the state police plan to open up the recruitment process again later this month.

Because of how quickly the application goal was reached the first time OSP used the E-recruit electronic application system, OSP Superintendent Richard Evans said persons interested in applying should start the process now by going to the Oregon State Police recruiting website at www.osptrooper.com to learn about what it takes to successfully apply.

"Our Department is excited for the opportunity to hire individuals looking to start their career in law enforcement or interested in working for an agency such as the Oregon State Police. If you are motivated and committed to serving the public with the highest degree of integrity, we encourage you to apply with OSP," said Evans.

Oregon State Police will open online recruiting on September 13, 2012, at 9 a.m.
