CORVALLIS, Ore. - Beaver Nation has caught the attention of the nation, at least according to one college guide.

The Fiske Guide to College's has named OSU a "Best Buy School," in its 2013 edition.

That rang true with students.

"I definitely came here because of the tuition and the program, I'm an animal sciences major," said junior Melissa Cook.

The guide looks at the quality of academics and amenities in relation to the cost of tuition.

"I would agree with that," said junior Corey Browning. "We have a lot of, a couple great facilities to exercise in, students have free access to games, to all the sporting events. We have the library which is great. I'd say it's a great buy."

The school is one of two in the Pacific Northwest to receive the honor, the other being Washington's Evergreen State College.
It was also one of 41 in the nation listed.

"It doesn't surprise me at all," said Doug Severs, Director of Financial Aid and Scholarships at Oregon State.

He said at an estimated $7,700 a year for tuition and fees, it's an affordable option.

"We've done surveys of the PAC-12 in terms of cost and we're always right at the lowest costs in regard to our students," he said.

You can find the 2013 Fiske Guide to Colleges on Amazon and in bookstores.
