Man sentenced for molesting kids calls crimes 'lapses in judgment'

COQUILLE, Ore. -- A Coos County man was sentenced to 25 years in prison for sexually molesting four children in what he called "lapses in judgment."
A Coos County judge sentenced Steven Perkins on Tuesday to spend the next 25 years of his life in prison with no possible way of having his sentence reduced.
None of the families of the victims spoke in court. Perkins admitted to sexually molesting four South Coast children, all under the age of 10.
Coos County District Attorney Paul Frasier said all sides of the case believed a trial would just traumatize the victims, all of whom already testified once in pre-trial hearings.
That, Frasier said, is what lead to a plea deal. "Two 10-year-olds, an 8-year-old and a 5-year-old, and going to court is not easy on young kids like that," he said. "So, that was a big factor, for me it was anyway."
Perkins spoke up in court, apologizing for what he called "lapses in judgment." He said that when he gets out of prison, he wants to make a positive change in his life and in the world.
In addition to 25 years in prison, Perkins will have more than a decade of post-prison supervision and must register as a sex offender.

Eventually he will be out of prison and molest/rape again. Why is our judicial system so easy on predators such as this evil person? Justice means either life with NO parole or death- there is no in between.Â

Another psychopath like Adam Lee Brown. Hope they don't let him out 3 decades later like they did Brown and find him slashing/molesting another child in a fast food restroom in Portland. With an excuse of a "lapse in judgement", it is obvious that he is a psychopath, and needs to be put down IMMEDIATELY for the benefit of society and tax payers.Â
This will free up the tax $ to prevent more crimes against our state's precious children. With all of the millions of dollars spent on Brown's court fees, medical fees, rehabilitation fees, etc... All we taxpayers got in return was another child victim.
@peace what about a RFID chip with a shocking device - implant when he is released into his scrotum so not to try to dig it out - or just knock em out plant the chip and then they have no clue where it is - I personally feel the scrotum sack is best especially with a shock wave built in - his type could be tracked electronically every minute of every day and still cost less than what is done now -which is basically nothing - when he is where he should not be he gets a shock to the genitals that knocks him to the ground. Then he is arrested again and castrated. If he can't behave after that death would be a good idea if he does not do himself in after having to go through all of the above.Â
