EUGENE, Ore. -- Oregon Ducks fans have another reason to celebrate this football season as Duck Downtown gets ready to take off.
The new project invites fans to meet up in downtown Eugene and Springfield for Duck-themed contests and fun the Friday before each home game.
Local restaurants and breweries will host the events, offering discounts to those who come out for Duck Downtown.
“So many people come and watch the games. They go straight to Autzen Stadium and all the fanfare happens there. This is a way to encourage people - visitors, for example - to come early, stay longer. Enjoy the festivities not only at autzen but in both downtown cores,” said Lisa Lawton, the community director for Travel Lane County.
Travel Lane County and the University of Oregon Marketing Department sponsor the event. They plan to have six Duck Downtown celebrations through out the football season.
