Shipwreck Excavation
In this July 18, 2012 photo, Mark Tveskov, the lead archeologist from Oregon State University, shows off three cooper alloy spikes used to fasten pieces of a ship in Coos Bay, Ore. The archeology team found the three spikes in one location. These spikes would have been expensive, Tveskov said, but the Captain Lincoln was an Army vessel with the funds to use expensive materials.
