Plane crashes on snow-covered Oregon runway

CHILOQUIN, Ore. - Two people escaped injury when their small plane crashed in deep snow on a rural aiprort runway.
Pilot Brett Hopper, 31, attempted a touch-and-go landing at the Chiloquin Airport on Tuesday afternoon on a closed, snow-covered runway, Oregon State Police said.
Hopper's Cessna 182 dug in to the 18 inches of snow, causing him to lose control of the plane.
The wings and nose hit the ground, damaging the prop.
Neither Hopper nor his passenger were injured.
a 182 has tricycle landing gear. a tail dragger might get away with it. .it would still indicate poor judgement
Good no one was injured.Â
Thought they have to have some kind of flight plan to land a plane!!!   Why would you try to land it in that much snow? I wouldn't take my 4x4 in that kind of snow why would you take a plane???? Just asking!!!
@Myownopinion! They had a snow free landing picked out for there final landing most likely.  Touch and go landings are usually done for certain pilot requirements that go with air hours. He  underestimated snow depth. There are a lot of airstrips like this through out Oregon.  Would be a nice way to travel.
@drinkmorewater  Would loooove to travel like that. I would travel everywhere!!!
