PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Police arrested a driver early Tuesday evening in Southeast Portland after a crash left a pickup truck on its top.

Police said Gerald Dean Stephen, 49, pulled out into oncoming traffic while entering a grocery store parking lot near the intersection of SE 82nd Avenue and SE Start Street, hitting a pickup truck that then flipped over.

Despite the severity of the crash, police said there were no injuries.

A witness at the scene said a small, white Chihuahua from the victim's truck ran to its home five blocks away and was discovered unharmed on the front porch.

Stephen was given a sobriety test and arrested at the scene for driving under the influence of intoxicants.
