Police: K9 unit apprehends man after stabbing
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- Police arrested a man suspected of stabbing a woman at a Springfield home, police said.
At around 5:40 p.m. Friday, Officers brought a K-9 unit to a reported stabbing near 17th and Main St. in Springfield.
A witness told arriving officers that the suspect was still at the scene, using a knife to cut the tires of a car parked outside of the residence.
An officer and K9 confronted the suspect, identified as 53-year-old Demetrio Guerreroruvio, who immediately surrendered, officials from Springfield Police reported.
Police said that officers went into the house and found a woman who was stabbed in her abdomen. Officials say that the woman knew Guerreroruvio before the stabbing.
Fire crews at the scene treated the woman before she was taken to Sacred Heart at Riverbend.
Guerreroruvio was arrested on assault and menacing charges.

A knife is the weapon of choice among hispanics....that may sound racist, but it's a cultural fact. (Sarcasm) We must remove all knives from our society if we are going to integrate hispanics into our culture. Knives killl and assault more often than guns in the hispanic communities. Outlaw knives now!!! What!!!??? Assault and menacing charges? Sounds to me like he tried to KILL her. So you can stab someone in the guts and just get assault and menacing. I wonder if the actual murder would get some lame misdemeanor charge.Â
Bigots like the one below, the minute they see a hispanic photo or surname in the newspaper, the race profile the individual without knowing, as they are so ignorant, that many of these hispanic people were born and raise in our country, some of them don't even speak the correct Spanish language. And there are other individuals as white as they can be, with the bluest eyes and blonde hair, that kill and murder people even more so. 26 in Connecticut, in Oregon the weirdos that killed his mother and father? the weirdos that killed four people including a teenager just because they THINK they are supremacists? Read some of the history of the Spanish people that came to US to pick oranges, cotton, etc. legally, in a contract between the two countries, and many decided to stay and were granted legal residency. Inform yourself before you judge.
 @lotusjani Another hysterical diatribe from the "don't be judgmental" "applaud diversity" and "social justice" crowd - this time with a Spanish accent.  When I was growing up we celebrated the melting pot theory in which foreigners legally in the country became Americans while retaining the culture of their former nationality . . . and we were proud of it.  Now foreigners, often illegal entrants, are supposed to retain all of their native cultures, take as much in social services as the can cram, and screw American (original) values.  For one, I'm sick of it.  PS - I see no bigoted remarks in the comments below.
