Police: Gangster in bulletproof vest 'a dangerous dude'
EUGENE, Ore. - A known gang member and key figure in one of Eugene's most notorious murders showed up outside a bank Thursday wearing a bulletproof vest, prompting police to use a stun grenade to disorient him and take him into custody.
Beau Flynn, 34, just got out of prison in September. He was arrested in 2009 in Marion County after police found him with meth, weapons and body armor.
"He's a guy, when he's out, we're worried about the public's safety," said Sgt. Scott McKee. "He's a guy that everyone should feel comfortable knowing he's behind bars today because he's a dangerous dude."
Flynn was 16 in 1994 when his mother, Mary Thompson, ordered the murder of 17-year-old Aaron Iturra to keep him from testifying against Flynn in a stabbing case. Two teen gang members shot and killed Iturra as he slept.
Police said Flynn, who had been told to stay out of Lane County by parole officials, was seen hanging around outside a Eugene bank on Thursday.
Officers moved in and used a flash-bang grenade to distract Flynn and take him into custody.
Too good looking to be sooooo evil.
Somebody, someone of integrity and better values ought to step up and remove this monster away and out of the public sphere....quietly and permanently.Â
Flynn has ties to Eugeneâs first gang murder: the 1994 execution-style slaying of 18-year-old Aaron Iturra as he slept in his familyâs Bethel home. Flynnâs mother, âGang Momâ Mary Louise Thompson, was convicted of aggravated murder for organizing area youths into a Crips gang, then persuading two of them to kill Iturra to keep him from testifying against Flynn in an assault case.
Weavill is serving a 25-years-to-life prison term for the July 2000 murder of 18-year-old Casey Jolene Stafek. She was shot in the head on isolated railroad land in what the prosecution called retribution for a drive-by shooting Weavill attributed to her ex-Âboyfriend.
Flynn was convicted of hindering prosecution for threatening to kill a witness in that case. He was serving a three-year state prison term after being convicted in Marion County of being a felon in possession of a firearm and body armor in 2009. He previously described himself as a gang member, and is regarded by local police as Westsideâs top member. " register guard"
The police state wants NO barrier between you and thier bullets.
@2easy2berightback Why don't we just get rid of law enforcement in Oregon altogether and we'll put you in charge of the people's protection ?,,,,a 2easy2berightback type of cop in your kind of 'police state'.
You ready for the challenge Officer 2easy2berightback ?
I want no barriers between us and the bullets you'll shoot in the commission of your duties.
Go git 'em 'buckwheat'.
@2easy2berightback Do you feel that we would all be safer without the police? You sound like one of those who moan and cry about the horrible police until some bad guy steals your toys or bangs you in the head. Then all you want is for the cops to protect you.
Why don't you grow up?
@the buttcut @2easy2berightback Most of us are not afraid of men like this, it is obvious that cowards like you are afraid, You should consider groeing a backbone
@2easy2berightback And I want no barrier between the police bullets and this piece of garbage who has been in and out of jail ever since he was 14 years old.   This puke and his friends are why we have to have police.Â
What the hell was a 16-year old doing with a "mother" who would order him to kill someone.
That's not a mother, it's a nightmare worse than the one on Elm Street.
She probably threw that "parental rights" bullcrap at the court and they just let it go.Â
You don't have a single solitary parental right on EARTH after doing something like that.
@Vicki Bee I have known this kid since before the "Gang mom murder" and he was in jail during the murder so he did not get ordered to kill anyone. And another thing, He was not a product of his "mother". Quite the other way around in that she was a product of him and would do anything he said. Dont get me wrong at all cause I think that she is a monster just like her son but could never compare to her son. I can not believe how little of the full story has bin told or easily available of what he has had a hand in the short period of time inbetween each stay in prison. He has bin the cause of multiple murders for 100% sure but did not commit himself and Lane County knows it which is why I believe the shortness and vagueness in the news. Believe me when I say that this sad excuse of a human being needs to be put down because he will always go back to prison if released and someone will pay the ultimate price before which would have bin the case this time if not for observent people willing to speak up which is becoming more and more rare.
@concerned citizen P.S. This is not just a reply to your comment but a reply to multiple comments also. Thanks.
What I also find strange is that none of the other news stations in town even mentioned this happened.
Things like this will only continue to happen because there are no consequences for breaking the law. Prisons are just places where the general public is lead to believe that are there to hold and rehabilitate these dangers to society, and the fact of the matter is we just house, care and feed them at the public's expense. It isn't harsh enough for anyone to learn a lesson, you get free food, medical care, get to work out,go to school, and while some do better themselves, most don't. The prisons need to become much harsher places, the stuff nightmares are made of and we need to bring back and strictly enforce the death penalty. Make them work for 12 hours a day, work, some food and sleep, then more work, 7 days a week. When life is made truly hard and unpleasant maybe these people will seem that crime does not pay. You murder someone in cold blood, you need to pay back society with your life,as you've proven yourself to be untrustworthy. What state isn't facing some huge budget crisis right now? Tell me about a school that isn't underfunded? I don't get these people who say we must make them pay by sitting the rest of their lives in prison, only for us,the people who work and contribute to society to pay for. You can throw all the rehab programs you want at people, and it does no good, people will change when they want to change, and not a second sooner. This guy murdered someone,he should have paid us back with his life. I heard from a friend who works in the area that this happened that there is far more to this story than what is being put out there, and that we are lucky we are not on the national news right now. Maybe that is only a rumor, but then look who we are dealing with. He should be dead because of the death penalty so that the public wouldn't have to worry about him ever again.
@Eric B. Larson Should just sentence him to a couple years in the Eugene Mission. Prison is a vacation resort compared to that place.
@Dikweed Say, I gotta Lane Transit Bus token I'll give you. It's a one way ticket outa town...I'd recommend their east bound McKenzie Bridge schedule for distance, or, if your headed south, Cottage Grove, Veneta if your headed to the coast or Coburg Rd's schedule if your headed north towards Portland. Easy access to I-5 to stick your thumb out.
Nothing around here is going to change for the better, especially for you, but if, by chance, it does...you can count on it being worse.
@Eric B. Larson The only interesting part of your comment was what you say you heard from a friend who works in the area. You shouldn't have stepped on it.
this guy needs to bust rocks for a few years. Â That said, if your momma was Mary Thompson maybe just maybe one does not turn out to be an honor student.
Please put this guy back in prison for a much longer time...
Hang just one of these guys on Saturday at noon in the Eugene public square and the rest of them will get out of town and stay out. Â
How is this guy a "gangster"?Â
Â
@XLRG He was a founding member of both The Alder Street Bad Dudes and The Monroe Park Meth Riders. Everybody knows that.
Maybe the judge will give him the full 5 years instead of 3 like last time. This is at least the 3rd time he has been released after a felony conviction and then found with guns or body armor or both.   By the way, I see Kitzhaber has a sentencing commission working to modify prison sentences again....too expensive to keep them in jail according to the democrats, you know.
@hewhoo Oh please, It's always something to do with us Democrats huh? I'm a liberal and I say put a bullet between his damned eyes and save us the money.
@RelaxThereIsNoGod You may consider yourself a liberal, but those are not the feelings of the Democratic party. Not even close.
 @Vicki Bee  @PleaseBeSmart I'd shoot him...and I can GUARANTEE that he'd be dead.
@Vicki Bee I was really referring to the execution itself, not the method. But since we're on it, when it comes to execution by bullet, we've tended to do a firing squad. Multiple bullets to the heart.
@PleaseBeSmart  @RelaxThereIsNoGod Those aren't the feelings of conservatives either.
Those aren't even the feelings of the people who man 'Old Sparky.'
Why ELSE would they put a cap on and water down a sponge to make the execution go FAST?
A bullet between the eyes may go fast 9 times out of 10 but there's still a chance that it can travel around the outside of the skull, lodge in a different part of the head and make the person a vegetable for life, or not kill them at all. It's rare but both instances have occurred.
I know b/c I'm a Paramedic and have read about both cases in a magazine of true medical miracles.
