Police: Man hits woman with van after domestic disturbance
WINSTON, Ore. -- A driver sped off after striking a pedestrian on Highway 42, just after state police say they received a call of a domestic disturbance between the two people involved.
According to Sergeant Matt Bowersox of the Oregon State Police, Samuel Adee and Ruth Hedrick were reported in a domestic disturbance in a Winston area residence at just after 1:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon. Adee and Hedrick were reported to be living together in the Roseburg area.
Just minutes later police said that a 1977 Ford van driven by Adee had struck a pedestrian, Hedrick, alongside the nearby Highway 42.
OSP said that Adee, 57 of Roseburg, initially stopped at the scene before driving two miles away and parking the van in a parking lot. Officers located Adee in a gas station close to where they found the van.
Police arrested Adee for driving under the influence of intoxicants, and took him to the Douglas County Jail. He was cited and released but could face more charges pending an investigation into the incident.
The 52-year-old Hedrick was taken to Mercy Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield were she is being treated for injuries.
souptonuts - What in the world does the UofO ban on smoking have to do with a domestic violence case in the Roseburg area?
@WildTangent I guess it could have been a fight over a cigarette. My point was if the UofO is going to ban one legal product, why stop there. Why not go after one that has caused way more ills than cigarettes. Better if they wouldn't ban anything that is legal, but start a class on how to respect others, that would solve more problems.Â

@WildTangent Goes back to  Alex L. "Sonny" Sixkiller, 1971, he beat the ducks as I recall, they called it a good Ol witch slapping or something like that, he was an Oregon boy, well actually he was an Okie, but everyone was back then, drinking, fighting, and football., it did not get any better than that, then everyone gets civilized and everything that comes natural to men is a crime and you cannot bump your hussy with the car, cause her butt is so big it takes up half the lane, and she drinks your beer and smokes your cigarettes and votes for Obama. You wanted to put a Romney bumper sticker on the truck and she says she would not be caught dead in it if you did, so you put it on the right front and try to inbed it into her backside, which does not work because of the mirror image spells yenmoR. You are only drunk enough to drive two miles, so you set out to find more beer. The cops show up, you go to jail and she gets your bumpersticker removed from her tramp stamp, just a typical day in southern Oregon.Â
I'm tellin' ya - thar's something in that water down thar.Â
Mercy Medical and Riverbend are two different hospitals.
If one were to compare the costs associated with alcohol consumption with the costs associated with smoking, I would bet that alcohol would win hands down. I don't drink or smoke, but it has always puzzled me why so much fury over smoking, and so little over alcohol. If the UofO is banning smoking, why did they not ban alcohol. When was the last time anyone heard of someone driving under the influence of cigarette smoke?
