SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - A passing motorist reported to police a driver going the wrongway on Main Street around 8:30 a.m. Monday.

The motorist tried to contact the driver when he stopped the 2011 Honda Accord behind a business, but the driver sped away.

A few minutes later, 911 got a call that the Honda had run a red light at high speed at Pioneer Parkway East and Centennial Boulevard, causing an accident with another car.

When officers arrived on scene, the driver had fled the scene. Police determined the Honda had been stolen overnight from Lithia Toyota in Springfield.

Hill and the driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries that did not require medical treatment, police said. Hill was taken to the Lane County Jail and booked on charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehilce, possession of a stolen vehicle, reckless driving, hit and run, and criminal mischief.
