Highway 26 reopens in Coast Range after 12-vehicle crash

ELSIE, Ore. – A crash involving 12 vehicles blocked Highway 26 in the coast range Tuesday morning, state police said.

The crash happened on the Quartz Creek Bridge, located east of Elsie in Clatsop County. The highway was closed in both directions.

It’s unclear how many people are hurt or what caused the crash.

The Oregon Department of Transportation said one of the vehicles caught fire after the crash. That fire was extinguished.

The highway reopened at 1 p.m. after crews cleared the road and inspected the bridge for damage.
