COOS BAY, Ore. - Police are looking for a man considered "armed and dangerous" after a stabbing Saturday night.

Police suspect Lawrence "Larry" James Martinez stabbed a stranger outside the Silver Dollar Tavern.

Officers responded to a call of a stabbing just after 11 p.m. Saturday and found George Hoggatt, 61, of Coos Bay outside and suffering from at least one stab wound to his back from a knife.

He was taken to Bay Area Hospital for treatment.

Bar owner Jessie Lund told KCBY News that the men had just been walking by the Silver Dollar and were not customers, but she did turn over surveillance footage to police from an outside camera.

Coos Bay Police told KCBY News that there is no evidence to suggest the two men had been acquainted prior to the stabbing, and they are investigating what led to the incident.

Martinez faces multiple charges, including Assault and being a Felon in Possession of a Restricted Weapon.

He is considered "armed and dangerous" and should not be approached.

Larry Martinez is described as 5-foot-7, 180 pounds, with black hair, including a mustache and goatee. A script tattoo is visible on the right side of his neck and he has a teardrop tattoo near his eye and markings on his earlobes.

Coos Stop Crime is offering a reward of up to $500 for information leading to his arrest. Call 541-267-6666. All callers will be kept anonymous.
