NEWPORT, Ore. -- A woman was arrested Wednesday when police say she left the scene of a hit and run crash after driving drunk.

At about 6:010 am, Newport police were called to a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Hwy 101 and NE 52nd Street.

When officers arrived, they say two vehicles were stopped at a red light, when a gray Chevy Tahoe hit both of them.

Witnesses told police that the driver and occupants of the Chevy took off on foot after the crash.

Police say they found the driver, Luz Uribe, 45, of Newport, walking with two other people on a nearby beach after searching the area.

Police say Uribe had a strong odor of alcohol and other signs of impairment.

Officers say Uribe told them she left the scene of the crash because she didn't have a driver's license.

Police say they arrested Uribe for DUII, felony hit and run and reckless driving. In addition, police say they issued her citations for an open container, refusing a breath test and driving while suspended.

Uribe was taken to jail, where her bail was set at $80,000.

Police say one of the passengers in the woman's vehicle was bleeding from the forehead and needed medical attention.
