Police: Woman seriously injured in crash on Hwy 99

EUGENE, Ore. - A 25-year-old Junction City woman suffered serious injuries when her car car crossed through oncoming traffic, hit a ditch and went airborne along Highway 99 on Thursday morning.

The car overturned before coming to a stop about 50 feet off the highway, Oregon State Police said.

The driver, identified as Elizabeth Drew, was rushed by ambulance to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend with what police described as serious injuries.

The crash happened around 7:45 a.m. as Drew drove north on Hwy 99 near Awbrey Lane.

For an unknown reason, her car crossed into oncoming traffic, narrowly missing other cars before hitting the ditch, police said.

Drew was wearing her seatbelt.

The crash remains under investigation.
