EUGENE, Ore. - A man accused of intentionally hitting a dogwalker with a truck turned himself in just after noon Monday. He faces attempted murder and other charges.
The Eugene Police Department had been looking for Francisco Ochoa, 32, since the crash Wednesday, March 14.
He surrendered to police at the Federal Building in Eugene on Monday, March 19.
Police booked Ochoa on charges of attempted murder, hit and run, aggravated animal abuse and assault.
Police told KVAL News after the crash that investigators believe Ochoa intentionally drove up on the curb near Gay Street and the male pedestrian and his dog.
The dog died at the scene. The victim was taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend with non-life threatening injuries.
