Two in U-Haul truck arrested after police chase
EUGENE, Ore. - A driver in a mid-size U-Haul fled police in West Eugene on Wednesday afternoon, leading officers on a chase past the city limits where sheriff's deputies joined in.
Multiple witnesses reported seeing the van driving on two deflated tires with numerous police vehicles in pursuit.
A photo from the scene shows the U-Haul hanging off the side of the road.
Police said the chase started in West Eugene around 3:21 p.m. and continued outside the city limits, ending around 4 p.m.
No one was hurt.
Police arrested the driver, Lane Allan Harris, 43, of Portland, on charges of eluding police, driving with a suspended license and unauthorized use of a vehicle. A spokeswoman said additional charges related to the pursuit are likely to be brought against Harris.
His passenger, 26-year-old Natasha Leanne Lucero of Portland, was arrested on one count of unauthorized use of a vehicle.
An officer initially tried to stop the U-Haul because an officer suspected it might be involved in an active case, a spokeswoman said. As of Thursday morning, police said they were still investigating any possible connections.
The investigation closed both north and southbound lanes of Northwest Expressway between Awbrey Lane and Irvington Drive during rush hour Wednesday while police investigate the van.

why are we wasting gas to track these people down the police dont even finish their paperwork before they are released, what a waste of fuel and money, putting us at risk with car chases just to let them out after they ran once this is ridiculous
and they have been released, wana bet they dont come to court?
i never could get one of those things to go faster than 60 mph. Â Heck with the governor on them, they don't go all that fast. Â Â A Uhaul hardly qualifies for a high speed chase.Â
Â
note to self: don't rent that uhaul.. the UHaul guys will try and check the "A OKAY" boxes on the damage check out sheet and then blame the whole thing on you when you return it.Â
They stopped near Veneta and asked for directions about 3:30.
That's one way to get away with stolen loot... or at least try to.
Really trying to outrun police in a U-Haul? Â
I'm guessing mobile METH lab ......or somebody in a hurry to leave town=)
@IAMHIGH ---That was my first thought too. U-haul becomes U-meth
