Police took a woman and a man into custody

EUGENE, Ore. - Springfield Police chased a driver in a stolen truck into Eugene and onto country roads, where the truck hit a farm fence and drove through fields before running out of gas.

The chase started when neighbors reported a stolen truck in Springfield.

An officer spotted the pickup on Q Street. Before the officer could activate his overhead lights and stop the truck, the driver int he suspect vehicle ran a red light and fled, police said.

The chase raced west on Highway 126, north on Interstate 5 and west on Beltline to River Road in Eugene.

The pickup drove through several fences and across a field, the female passenger jumped out.

The chase ended when the pickup ran out of gas on Prairie Road.

Police took the driver, 25-year-old Sean Lovewell, into custody without incident. He was booked into jail on charges of unathorized use of a vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle, unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle, elude, reckless driving, reckless endangering, tampering with evidence and a  parole violation.

The female passenger, 24-year-old Heather Smith, was taken to the hospital after she got sick from eating drugs during the chase, police said. She was cited for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
