Police have standoff with man who threatened to shoot officers

ROSEBURG, Ore. -- A Roseburg man is behind bars, after authorities say he came into town with several guns and threatened to shoot a police officer.

Police say that about 20 minutes after midnight, Nathan Lawrence Wilson called the 911 dispatch center and said he was walking into town, had guns and was going to shoot a police officer.

Police went to the area and found Wilson walking in the area of Garden Valley and Troost.

Police say Wilson did have several firearms.

Officers set up around the area and a 20 minute standoff ensued.

Wilson eventually gave up and was taken into custody without further incident, police said.

Officers lodged Wilson in the Douglas County Jail on charges of Menacing, second degree disorderly conduct, unlawful possession of a concealed firearm and obstructing governmental administration.
