Police officers injured in scuffle with suspect

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - Two police officers got hurt in a struggle with a suspect after a car chase and foot pursuit Monday night.
Christopher Shaun Kanatzar, 26, faces charges of assault, resisting arrest, attempted escape, felonin possession of a firearm and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
He and two Springfield Police officers were taken to McKenzie Willamette Medical Center for treatment after his apprehension.
The chase started when police spotted a stolen vehicle at 6th and Northridge around 9:30 p.m.
Officers attempted to stop the car at Debera and S streets, but the suspect drove off on Mohawk and 14th streets.
At one point, the stolen car hit a curb and got a flat tire.
The suspect jumped from the moving car on 15th near South A and took off on foot.
Officers chased him through two apartment complexes before catching up to him on Main Street.
Kanatzar struggled with police, injuring himself and the two officers in the process, police said.
A handgun and ammunition was found in the stolen vehicle, police said.
In addition to this incident, Kanatzer was also wanted on a warrant for violating his parole from a 2005 incident where he fire a gun at another person, police said.

And how did this felon get a firearm? Â Could it be because, in Oregon, you can buy a gun in a private sale with no background check and no questions asked?
@Baldr Odinson The guy is a criminal, he probably stole it or bought it from another criminal.
I wonder if this was the stuff i saw on game farm by the state police at about 6pm
