'Poop' stop sign: Clever prank or vandalism?

PORTLAND, Ore. – At first glance, it looks like a normal stop sign. But take a second look at a few stop signs around town and you’ll see some prankster made a few alterations.
Several signs that previously read “stop” now say “poop.” Somebody put a “po” sticker over the “st” to make the change.
The vandal or vandals clearly spent some time matching the exact color of red background, size and font to make it look seamless.
We spotted some of the signs in Northeast Portland and others in Old Town.
Some people who noticed got a good laugh out of the signs, although many people we talked to didn’t even notice the signs had been altered when they drove by.
“I think it’s funny, I enjoy it,” one man said as he passed by an Old Town sign.
City employees have already removed some of the stickers from stop signs in the Laurelhurst neighborhood.
We put calls in to the city to find out just how many signs have been targeted, but we have not yet heard back. We also want to ask the city how much it costs to clean up the signs.

Someone's photo has been affixed below. Such public humiliation is an exceedingly cruel prank on the victim(s). If it is just a public celebrity or a politician it may or may not be funny to some. But, if it is not a public figure, then that could be devastating to the individual('s) friends and family.
Pranks can kill people if the victim is clueless or not doing very well to begin with, as we saw with that prank call to Kate Middleton's maid from the Queen (ie. some Aussie radio/TV talk show broadcaster's voice).

If you have to ask, "Clever prank or vandalism" perhaps you should be questioned about it first.
I have a sence of humor maybe too much for my own good but not to the expence of others! come on stop it not poop it! see what i mean! lol!

At least it is tape and can most likely be peeled off with out damage. With spray paint and the likes it is hard to remove with chemicals because it also rubs off the rest of the paint!

Getting a 5 man team assembled to pull down each sticker takes weeks of planning, days of exhausting work. Traffic detours involving 4 to 5 blocks for each poop sign. Why the bill for each sign could reach into the thousands of dollars!!! Go Portland!!!
This must be punishable by 1 year in prison! ...No, I'm joking. This is funny, laugh people. Oregon is weird, get used to it.
Who cares how much it costs. Just enjoy it.
