Quilting for hospice patients: 'The loss is soothed by the quilts'

ALBANY, Ore. -- In the true spirit of the season, people are quilting with the hopes of warming up the holidays for those in hospice care.

The Quilt Loft of Albany is organizing the volunteer effort, and shop owner Karen Roberts said the quilts are being donated for the patients as well as their families.

She says the goal is to brighten up their rooms with vibrant, warm colors for the holidays.

"The sadness of the loss is soothed by the quilts,” Roberts said. “Which is amazing, which is very gratifying to me.”

Roberts said the quilts are donation and volunteer based, and anyone wishing to help out the cause can contact her for more information.
