In Limbo: A little bit lower now ...

EUGENE, Ore. - Oregon might be weathering a drought, but it looks like February missed the memo.

"So far this month we have had almost 6.3 inches of rain," said Clinton Rockey, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. "That's already 3 inches above normal for the month of February, and we are going to continue to see more coming in this month."

"The wettest February for Eugene was in 1996," Rockey said. "We had almost 17 inches of rain."

So can Eugene might not set any records, but will it douse the drought?

Maybe, says Ross Penhallegon.

"At this point, I think we are going to be OK," the Oregon State extension service horticulturist said. "If we have no moisture, then we will be in trouble."
