I-105 to I-5 ramp closed at night this week for repairs

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - A project to strengthen the ramp from eastbound I-105 to I-5 southbound will begin Monday night as a contractor moves to take advantage of a favorable weather forecast.

The ramp over Garden Way is a three span elevated structure built in 1961, the Oregon Department of Transportation said.

A 2010 inspection found shear cracks in exterior girders. This project will strengthen both the interior and exterior girders to allow the bridge to be open to all freight vehicles.

The ramp will be closed overnight for approximately four nights during construction.

The work is weather dependent and the overnight closures had to be scheduled based on weather forecasts.

Beginning Monday, March 11 and continuing through Friday morning, March 15, the ramp will be closed from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m.

During the overnight closures, eastbound motorists wishing to travel south on I-5 will be detoured east on I-105/OR 126 to Pioneer Parkway, then north to Q Street, then west on OR126/I-105 to I-5 southbound.
