EUGENE, Ore. -- Saturday night’s jackpot for the Powerball game was at a record $325 million.

In Eugene, a mother and son said they knew the odds were against them, but they played anyway.

“I was telling mom not to buy them because of that, but she still does,” said Sage Moore.

“You got to play to win,” said Amanda Moore, Sage’s mother. “Every day’s a gamble. Everything’s a gamble, and it’s only a couple bucks. I would spend it on something stupid anyways. So, I might as well win some money.”

The drawing was held on Saturday night, and one person from Rhode Island picked the winning combination of numbers.

According to Powerball, the odds of winning the big $325 million jackpot were about 1 in 175 million.

The Moore family did not win. But Amanda Moore said if she had won she would have paid off the mortgages for all of her family members. Sage said he would have gone on a shopping spree and purchased a bowling alley.

One person from Oregon matched five of the winning numbers and won $1 million.
