CORBETT, Ore. – Multnomah County Detectives are investigating a body found Sunday in a vehicle at the bottom of a ravine off the East Historic Columbia River Highway.
A hiker spotted a wrecked vehicle at the bottom of a ravine on Saturday, according to Lt. Steve Alexander with the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office. Search crews met on Sunday morning to hike down the car and investigate. When they reached the vehicle they found a man's body inside.
KATU's Erica Nochlin said the car was severely damaged. Investigators said it was there a while before it was found.
Alexander said in a news release that crews recovered the vehicle at around 5 p.m. Authorities closed the Old Columbia River Highway between Latourell Falls and Crown Point until the investigation is complete.
The body will be turned over to the medical examiner for an autopsy.
Yet you people will still drive at breakneck speeds and continue to endanger yourselves, others and any child unlucky enough to be riding with you... I'm glad he only killed himself! At least now there is one less idiot on the road looking to kill me and my family...
Morons...
@Postone I agree with you on the speeders, but how do you know this person wasn't avoiding a speeder that may have crossed the line, or possibly a texter who crossed the line. Unfortunately we may never know, maybe the person was texting, or reading a text. Another thing that is unfortunate these days is that someone could have ran this person off the road and just kept going. If there is no evidence we may never know what happened, but I am sure there is a grieving family out there somewhere.
@souptonuts @Postone  I don't know, but its unlikely....
@souptonuts @Postone I don't know this, but the fact is its way more likely that he was driving way to fast...Â
