SUTHERLIN, Ore. -- Douglas County Sheriff's Deputies are investigating the death of two cats they believe were killed and then thrown on someone's property.

The animals were discovered Friday afternoon by a 17-year-old girl in the 1500 block of Plat I Road just outside of Sutherlin.

Police say they appeared to be killed from blunt force trauma to the head, and don't think it was an accident.

Douglas County Sheriff's deputy Dwes Hutson told KPIC News Monday morning, that the cats were found dumped by a barn on the property, and had twine tied around their necks.

One of the cats did belong to the owner of the property where they were found.

If you have any information on this case you are urged to contact the Sheriff's department.
