Deputies: Road rage leads to chase, arrest on Interstate 5

SALEM, Ore. – Marion County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Milwaukie, Ore. man who they said lost his temper and chased another car on Interstate 5 at more than 120 mph.
A deputy was driving north on Interstate 5 Saturday afternoon when a blue Honda passed him, according to sheriff’s office spokesman Don Thomson. The deputy began to follow the Honda when a gray Infiniti that was chasing the Honda passed him at more than 100 mph.
The Honda and Infiniti changed lanes several times, Thomson said. The driver of the Infiniti drove onto the shoulder of the center divider at 123 mph. The driver lost control when he returned to the road and nearly collided with other cars that were driving the speed limit.
The deputy stopped the Infiniti and arrested the driver, 21-year-old Caleb Spain.
Spain told the deputy he lost his temper when the Honda passed his car.
Spain was taken to the Marion County Jail and his car was impounded. He faces one count of reckless driving.
There's a time and place for doing 100+ mph - a crowded I-5 is neither.
Both of those morons need to be in jail, and have their drivers licenses permanently revoked.
Â
Thankfully, no one was hurt, Adding another "Thumbs Up!" and a humble "Thank You!" to the Marion County Sheriff's Department for removing these dirtbags from our roads in such a Safe and Professional manner.
Read their press release, it is the same deputy who is always trying to get on the news, Ryan Postelwait.  He needs to put his cell phone down, stop trying to get attention, and just do his job.
@D R He is doing his job, it's not an easy one.Â
So was the deputy chasing him at that speed and taking photos with his cell phone at the same time? Â Is this the same Marion County Deputy that is always on the news? Â Does he call up the stations trying to get on the news or what?
@D R that radar unit was HELD at 108 mph.. thus the HLD on the left.. the 67 is most likely the passing traffic. both cars in that photo are stopped. I am sure the officer took that photo because i am quite sure you do not stop some one 100+ every day
@MichaelBhea Its not a hard job.  Also, getting his cell phone out and taking photos for the news, so he can get more PR is not part of his job.  He has done this before... taking photos of people he arrested with his cell phone after he arrested them, trying to sensationalize the story. Â
Let's see, he's going down the road over 100 MPH and somebody passes him. Two really dumb drivers on the road. Two really lucky to be alive drivers on the road. A whole bunch of lucky people in close proximity of two incredibly dumb drivers. Can't you just see what this pea for a brain was thinking, "Gee I'm going 100 nobody is going to pass me and get away with it." Suspend his license, actually it is probably already suspended, for 25 years. It will take him that long to gain enough maturity to be safe on the road.
