EUGENE, Ore. - Welcome to Safety Town.

"We cover between 30-40 different topics of safety, everything from gun safety, stranger safety, traffic safety, as well as things that are going to prepare them for school," said Sgt. Lisa Barrong from the Eugene Police Department.

The 2-week program for kindergarteners teaches kids by immersing them in a kid-size world.

"There's kids with very short attention spans, they learn in different ways, watching videos, hands on, breaktime," said parent John Sharlow. "I think it's a great environment that the kids engage in. It's great learning environment for them."

The program isn't just for kids: teenage volunteers get experience teaching kids.

The program runs until July 26.
