Salon owner arrested on theft, fraud charges

ROSEBURG, Ore. -- The owner of  beauty salon was arrested Friday, and is being held in the Douglas County Jail on multiple charges.

Laurie Leischner, 26, is the listed owner of Ambiance Beauty Salon and Spa on Garden Valley Blvd., according to the Oregon Secretary of State's Web site.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office was contacted in late January by the owner of T3 Construction, who says that he found forged checks and unauthorized credit card charges.

He told detectives that the forged checks and charges dated back to 2010, when the woman was employed as a secretary.

Detectives said the checks were made to Leischner and her business, JL Strategies and Consulting. The total amount in forged checks was over $31,000, and combined with the credit card charges, the total loss to the business was over $37,000.

Sheriff's department spokesman Dwes Hutson told KPIC News that Lieschner is also the bookkeeper for the Lookingglass Volunteer Fire Department.

She was arrested Friday afternoon was charged with:

  • First Degree Aggravated Theft
  • Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card
  • Aggravated Identity Theft
  • Misdemeanor Computer Crime
  • First Degree Forgery

She is being held on $612,500.
