EUGENE, Ore. -- As crews continue picking up the pieces from a winter storm, Eugene’s Urban Lumber is salvaging trees that fell under the weight of snow and ice.
The company is processing the fallen trees across Lane County to keep the valuable resources within the community.
Company owner Seth San Filippo said they specialize in repurposing large pieces of timber into useful furniture.
“It feels really good to put the trees back into the community as a finished product that's going to be around for a long time,” said San Filippo.
Spokesperson Sheri Wayt said their team picks up scrap timber and transforms it into something useful.
“We'll take the tree down, mill it, dry it and design it. We'll allow that consumer to work directly with our furniture designers and then we'll build it,” said Wayt.
The company’s downtown Eugene showroom features finished pieces of furniture.
