Semi rear-ends SUV, injuring driver

MADRAS, Ore. - A semi truck rear-ended a SUV Monday morning, injuring the driver in the smaller vehicle.

Megan Erickson, 21, of Culver, Ore., had stopped her Ford Explorer on Highway 97 and was waiting to make a left onto a side road when her SUV was hit from behind by a semi truck.

The impact pushed the SUV off the highway.

Erickson was taken by ambulance to Mountain View Hospital in Madras, then transferred by air ambulance to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend. State police said her injuries are not life-threatening.

Troopers cited the trucker, David M. Mosebar, 45, of Moses Lake, Wash., for careless driving. He was distracted and didn't see the stopped vehicle, police said. He declined medical treatment at the scene.
