EUGENE, Ore. - A man who broke into a house and sexually assaulted on 84-year-old woman last summer pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 23 years in prison Tuesday.
Jackie Griffin Harpole, 32, broke into the woman's house July 24. The victim reported waking up to find a man choking her. The suspect then sexually assaulted her before stealing her car.
The stolen car was found 3 days later in Portland.
Harpole, identified in earlier news reports as Jackson Harpol, was captured in Tennessee in November and brought back to Eugene to face charges.
