Sheriff: Woodcutter finds man with girlfriend, attacks pickup with ax
ROSEBURG, Ore. - A woodcutter attacked a man's truck with an ax after finding the victim with his girlfriend, sheriff's deputies said.
Authorities say that Michael Darren Smith, 34, came home from cutting wood at about 7 a.m. Thursday to find a 60-year-old man in his house with Smith's girlfriend at a Buckhorn Road home.
Officials say that's when Smith became upset and assaulted the man, then went after his truck. They say Smith took an ax to the man's truck, then allegedly stole his wallet and chain saw.
Smith was arrested and charged by deputies with first degree robbery, first degree theft and fourth degree assault, among other charges.
He is lodged in the Douglas County Jail with bail set at $487,500.

Smith is obviously not too bright, or apparently appealing to his girlfriend. Seems to me that rather than committing assault and robbery, which will likely land him in prison, he should have been asking himself why his girlfriend was so desperate for love and attention that she was looking for it with somebody else.
