Landslide stops man in stolen taxi

BROOKINGS, Ore. - A man stole a taxi at knifepoint and led police on a chase before crashing into a landslide blocking a rural road, police said.
Cody Pettit, 18, of Brookings faces charges of Robbery in the First Degree, Attempt to Elude by Vehicle, Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, Reckless Driving, Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree, Menacing x 2, Harassment x 5, Reckless Endangering, Theft of Services, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, and Coercion, the Curry County Sheriff's Office said.
Pettit stole the white taxi van at knifepoint just before 4 p.m. Saturday, February 2, the sheriff said.
A deputy spotted the vehicle on Highway 101 and tried to pull the driver over. The deputy followed as Pettit turned onto Meyers Creek Road, which is closed due to a landslide, the sheriff said.
Pettit crashed the taxi into the landslide. He was taken into custody without further incident, the sheriff said.
No sympathy for the alleged robber, but isn't this an extreme case of multiplicity of charges? Â It seems like most of these charges are redundant.
@Reis Kash My understanding is that they will often apply as many charges as possible so that when a plea deal is reached there are charges that can be dropped or when a judge is sentencing and combining time, he will still maybe serve a decent sentence still... but I am in no way and expert and would love to hear from anybody with some expertise in the area :)

Enjoy your 19th birthday in the slammer idiot!!!
Aww, dang it! I was hoping that the landslide actually happened as he was trying to evade police. Then I could site karma as the cause. Now all I have is a bad-driving idiot :/
