Sheriff: Man comes home to find brother in burned out camper

TENMILE, Ore. -- The Sheriff's office says a man likely found his brother dead in a camp trailer after returning home after a month.

On Friday, deputies were called to 1375 Berry Creek Road by David Michael Tankersley, 62, who had returned home after being gone for a month.

Authorities say David found his brother's camp trailer had been destroyed by fire and human remains inside.

Officials say the remains inside have been tentatively been identified as Dwaine Clyde Tankersley, 58.

Sheriff's deputies were assisted in the investigation by the State Fire Marshal's office, who determined the cause of the fire to be combustible items being too close to a propane heater.

The Medical Examiner's Office will attempt to make positive identification through forensic examination.
