EUGENE, Ore. - Shoppers started lining up outside Nordstrom Rack at 3 a.m. Thursday.
By 8 a.m., the line wrapped around the building at Oakway Center ahead of the 9 a.m. grand opening.
"This is huge for Eugene to get a Rack," said Kristan Johnston. "We usually have to go to Portland."
"I'm shopping for everything!" said Angela Borek. "Basically this store is goning to go in this bag - so jeans, shoes and boots for the tallness."
"I'm really excited! I love Nordstrom," Katherine Sawyer said. "I'm from Seattle, so Nordstrom is really big there. I've been waiting for this moment for like 4 years now, so I'm really excited."
"I got here at 3 a.m. this morning, so it's been a little cold and nippy out here but it's worth it," said Ryan Loveless.
After the doors opened, Loveless walked away a satisfied customer. "I got some dress shirts, dress socks, I got a bow tie for my friend and a hat."
The store filled a retail space left vacant by the closure of Border Books.
Nordstrom said it hired 50 people to work at the new store, one of 6 it is opening nationwide this year.
