Soldier gets prison for road-rage beating of man, 75

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A soldier accused of beating a 75-year-old driver in a road rage clash in Portland was sentenced Monday to 14 months in prison.
Aaron Scott Altabef pleaded guilty last month to attempted assault as part of a plea agreement. He's a member of the Oregon Army National Guard who served in Afghanistan in 2011.
Last May the 36-year-old was involved in a confrontation with 75-year-old Randall McMichael of Wilsonville in traffic.
The Oregonian reports Altabef yanked the older man out of his car and punched him several times, breaking his jaw and two ribs.
Altabef's lawyer, David T. McDonald, said his client was stressed and readjusting from his time in Afghanistan.

Here's an obverse story, 'nother time other place. American in Japan 1980s, sees a car crash, car is on fire, pulls a 75 year-old Japanese man out of a burning car. It explodes! Bystanders applaud his heroism. Old man stabs him, because he was an ultra-nationalist J emperial army vet from WWII (AKA Yakuza 893). Old man could not handle the humiliation. PTSD or CSD NEVER GOES AWAY. Blaming the PSY authorities is the wrong approach.
Preventing unnecessary wars where rich get the poor killed or permenately damaged is the only medicine.
Underfunding the VA, whilst over funding war is what rich have always done.>>>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feres_v._United_States<<
The reality of shortages of mental health providers for our returning military personnel. Give them a pill, and call me in a month or two. They either commit suicide or become enraged towards others! But here we are...American families sending to the Middle East their best and brightest. In return, the military give these families a mess up soldier. And for what??
Well, I guess that will give you time to cool down!!!
