Springfield man pleads in E. Oregon abuse case

PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) — A Springfield man was sentenced to prison after admitting he molested two girls in Eastern Oregon.

The East Oregonian newspaper reports that 47-year-old Russell Haney pleaded guilty to three charges of first-degree sexual abuse.

He admitted to twice touching a 7-year-old girl in 1994 and to touching an 8-year-old girl in 2005.

Umatilla County Judge Eva Temple sentenced Haney to 12 1/2 years in prison, but he will get credit for the 19 months he spent in the county jail.

After prison, he must register as a sex offender and spend more than six years on post-prison supervision.
