State police cruiser collides with station wagon
HERMISTON, Ore. - A passenger car pulled out in front of an Oregon State Police cruiser, sparking a collision that sent two troopers and two people to the hospital Thursday.
Oregon State POlice Sgt. Seth Cooney and Trooper Michael Mayer were southbound on Highway 207 near the off-ramp from Interstate 84 in a Dodge Charger patrol vehicle.
A 1990 Ford Taurus station wagon stopped at a stop sign at the bottom of the off ramp drove into the intersection in the path of the OSP patrol vehicle, police said, and te two collided.
Cooney and Mayer were taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The Ford's driver, Raul Rojas-Rivas, 44, and his passenger, Amalia Rivas-Flores, 78, both from Boardman, were also taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
The Hermiston Police Department is continuing the investigation with the assistance of OSP.
Hermiston Fire & Emergency Services and ODOT assisted at the scene.
