Scott Holub grew a state-record squash. He missed the U.S. record, however, and plans to try again next year.

EUGENE, Ore. - Scott Holub impressed the judges in Gervais last weekend with his squash.

"I wanted to beat the state record," he explained.

His 1,175 lbs squash did the trick, setting a new Oregon record.

"I was kind of excited," Holub said, "but I was actually a little bit disappointed because I was hoping to beat that U.S. record."

Holub said he'll try again next year.

In the meantime ...

What do you do with a 1/2 ton squash?

"I'll probably leave it here for decoration," Holub said.
