Deluge strands man's van down by the river

ROSEBURG, Ore. - A man's van is going to stay down by the river until water levels fall next year, the Roseburg Fire Department said.
The man drove his van out onto Elk Island in the South Umpqua River before the heavy rain started.
As the river rose to near flood stage, the man got stuck out on the island, firefighters said.
A passerby reported seeing the man stranded on the island around 11:10 a.m. Tuesday.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office dispatched a water rescue catamaran to the scene, and the man was rescued from the island shortly after 1 p.m.
His van won't be so lucky: firefighters expect it will remain on the island until waters recede some time next year.
The Roseburg Fire Department was assisted in the rescue by Roseburg Police Department, Douglas County Fire District No. 2, Douglas County Emergency Management and the Douglas
County Sheriff’s Office.
can not help being reminded of Chris Farleys line on SNL while playing a guidance counselor to the effect, if you do not get your self together " you will be living in a van down by the river!"
Hey, I used to live in a van down by the river so watch it.
you know when you drive across a low river all that oil gets washed into the stream
@censoredirawoody You mean the oil we get from mother earth? That oil?  Or are you referring to the oil that (also) occurs naturally on your skin that washes off when you swim in the same river?
