Tasty Tuesday: SortaSausage

Tasty Tuesday: SortaSausage

EUGENE, Ore. - If you are in the market for meatless meat you may have spotted SortaSausage on the shelf.  I'll admit that I've never really considered becoming vegan or vegetarian for that matter, but when the creator of this unique product sent me an email wanting me to give it a shot I couldn't resist.

Molly Ainsley, the owner and founder of SortaSausage, is from Texas.  I would have never pictured someone living a meatless lifestyle to come from a place some consider the BBQ capitol of the world, much less for that person to come up with a line of meatless meat.  Then again it makes a lot of sense.  Who better to match meat without meat than someone who was surrounded by it.

There are a lot of different reasons to move away from meat.  Ainsley's inspiration came from a book by John Robbins.  After a lot of testing and tasting she came up with a line of products designed to keep those turning to a meatless lifestyle from missing the meat.

Ainsley admits that the complexity of meat may never be duplicated exactly.  She only hopes that her product might make it easier for some to make the switch.  Whatever their reason for doing so may be.

The Cornbread Cafe uses some of Ainsley's products and you can find it is several stores around Eugene.
