EUGENE, Ore. -- With some new high-tech treats, parents can make sure that their little ghouls and goblins don’t get up to any tricks on Halloween night.

There are some new smart phone apps designed to keep children safe while they are out collecting candy door to door.

Chris Hulls, CEO of Life360, said his app allows parents to set up a radius for their trick-or-treater, and receive an alert if their child goes beyond it.

"It makes everything easier, and it makes you more confident,” said Hulls. “Halloween is a really good opportunity for parents to give more freedom to their kids."

Another app that goes along with the safety theme for All Hallows' Eve is "Trick Or Tracker" – which designer Wayne Irving says tracks both the child and parent.

"This allows them, if they're in a distress situation or something goes awry, to find us, immediately,” said Irving.

There's also no need for your dark knight to be in the dark tonight. Use the Flashlight app for iPhones, or Brightest Flashlight for Androids, both free from their respective app stores.

"So why not use this (phone) to be a better parent and to keep your kids safe,” said Irving.

While your fairy princess or zombie might be powered by sugar tonight, but your smart phone isn't! Make sure to plug your phone in and charge it up before heading out.
